Visit to The Leen

Join us for a visit to The Leen, owned and managed by WVW member, Tony Norman. The Leen is part of an award winning working dairy farm, and showcases a fantastic example of how productive farming, rewilding and nature conservation can go hand in hand.

Wildlife at The Leen has been under Tony’s careful and knowledgeable management for the last 45 years. Moseley Common Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is also present at The Leen, which is one of the few areas of marshland in Herefordshire to have survived the effects of modern agricultural improvement and drainage.

The botanical interest of The Leen has been known since the 19th Century. Over 120 plants have been found on the site, including several species now rare or uncommon in the county.

This will be a great opportunity to see well preserved traditional meadows, the newly created wildflower meadow as part of the Coronation Meadows Project, as well as the historic parkland, coppice woodlands, cleverly protected watercourses and restored hedgerows.
