Visit to Llanlawrence

An in person visit to Llanlawrence, an exciting 150-acre rewilding project in Monmouthshire, begun in 2022.   

Once used for sheep grazing, Llanlawrence is becoming a mosaic of ancient woodland, species-rich grassland, wildflower meadows and ponds. 

This will be a great opportunity to meet and talk with the owners about the rewilding they are doing, which includes using Belted Galloways as conservation grazers to replicate wild herbivores and create a wood pasture mosaic;  working with pockets of remnant Ancient Woodland, giving them chance to regenerate and reconnect; creating 20 acres of new wildflower meadows; and rewetting the land by blocking drains and slowing the flow of streams by building leaky dams.
